Cook entered the football program during his sophomore year, as he believed he had little opportunity to replace the senior running back, Devonta Freeman. Freeman had played a crucial role in securing Central’s Class 6A state title in 2010. Cook concluded his high school football career with impressive statistics, amassing 4,267 rushing yards and scoring 64 touchdowns, contributing significantly to Miami Central’s outstanding 52–5 record.
